About Us

Union Choir Program

Union High School has been recognized both regionally and nationally for our outstanding choirs. Our Symphonic Men's and Women's choirs are “non-audition choirs” open to all students. Our Select Treble and Chamber Choir are both “audition choirs”, with the Chamber Choir consisting of our varsity students.

During the year, several free performances will be held involving all choirs. There is also opportunity for students to participate in district and state solo/ensemble competitions, of which Union students have consistently been awarded top & superior ratings.

Margaret Green

Margaret Green has enjoyed making music in the Portland-metro area for over 30 years. This is her first year as the vocal music director at Union HS after five years as the vocal music director at Evergreen High School in Vancouver, Washington. Green is an active adjudicator and guest clinician for high school and middle school choral events, an honor choir conductor, and recently renewed her National Board Certification in Teaching. For twelve years she was the conductor of Belle Voci Women’s Vocal Ensemble and for five years the women’s choir director and Lewis and Clark College, and taught for 23 years at the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics. Highlights for Green from the past ten years include: headlining the Oregon ACDA Middle School Honor Choir in 2016 and 2018, recipient of Washington PTA Outstanding Teacher Award, and featured in a KATU Leaders in Learning television segment showcasing leaders in the teaching profession. Ms. Green is a member of ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) and NAFME (National Association for Music Educators). She currently sings in Chor Anno Vocal Ensemble, and enjoys singing in the Gospel Christmas Chorus with the Oregon Symphony.

Choir Boosters & Contact Info

The UHS Choir Boosters serve to assist the choir department/director by managing communications with parents & students, organizing fundraising, coordinating volunteers, supporting logistics of performances/tours, and overseeing management of uniforms.
